Zonde(r)’s mission is to create new plant-based products that fit in on a charcuterie board or can just be eaten as a snack. The company wants to make it easier for consumers to switch to plant-based consumption by providing them with a vegan alternative for their favorite finger foods. Decreasing animal-based food consumption is a key part of the Dutch government’s environmental and climate strategy. Because the products from Zonde(r) do not contain any animal-based ingredients, they are more sustainable and ethical than the products that are currently being sold at the Kies en Mix section in Dutch supermarkets.
The vegan chorizo slices from Zonde(r) were made with the intention of creating a plant-based alternative to traditional chorizo. The slices have an intense smoky flavor, a rich umami taste and a chewy, meat-like texture. This product will provide meat-skeptical consumers with a delicious and meaty snack to add to their charcuterie board.
The members of Zonde(r) have a great group dynamic. Comprised of four first year food technology students, the team is interested in making high-quality plant-based snacks. Each member of the group has their own skills and qualities. This creates synergy, which can be used to work on the shared goal: making snacking more sustainable.
Jaxxon, Lena, Roel and Ambra invite you to try and enjoy Zonde(r)’s chorizo style slices! :)
