Product Description

We examine existing initiatives and combine them with our research in order to address a challenge that is based on the needs and demands of the local population and stakeholders. Through this research, we are drawing up a proposal to tackle a challenge that the local community needs addressed.

The project will establish a local scouting group and a neutral community space, where children, youth, parents and elderly people can meet and participate in weekly or monthly activities. These activities include hiking, cooking, gardening, movie nights, etc. Residents will play a big role in organizing these activities with their traditions, knowledge, and interests ensuring that the voice of the community shape initiatives over time. There will extra attention for different generations and social groups to create an open and welcoming environment.
Local volunteers and residents will do the planning and organizing of activities., which results in a direct decision-making by community members to shape the initiative together. Elderly residents will share their local traditions and life experiences, which strengthens intergenerational relationships. These will help to rebuild connections and create a strong sense of community. The scouts will also visit elderly residents who are unable to attend activities to build relationships with the commune.
In the long term, this initiative aims to create a lasting community feeling that encourages participation, local responsibility, and resilience. Connections with other scouting groups around Europe may also create opportunities for cultural exchange and eco-tourism, which strengthens both the local economy and young people’s connection to Alexandru cel Bun.

About us

We are Giulia, Maaike, Zomer, Feline, Sarah and Gijs, and we are first-year International Development Management students at Van Hall Larenstein. We are motivated to make the world a better place wherever we can and are working together as a team to achieve this in our project area in Alexandr cel Bun, Romania. During the research, we took on roles such as interviewer, note-taker and interview assistant (ensuring that everything was captured from the interview). We have jointly analysed the findings and developed a solution.
