The company we worked together with is ADR and the municipality of Alexandru cel Bun. ADR stands for Agenția de Dezvoltare Regională Centru, who focuses on development in Romania, specifically for Alexandru cel Bun region. Our project addresses the loneliness among the citizens of Alexandru Cel bun. After interviewing 12 people we concluded that the village needs a communal space, where people can come together and celebrate the old traditions that flow through Alexandru Cel Bun. Residents mentioned that they deeply value human connections with all generations. This will contribute to a better understanding of all citizens. People will feel more connected and heard, which eventually leads to better participation within the community.
After our field research and interviews, we concluded that the citizens of Alexandru Cel Bun desired a communal space where they could come together, celebrate old tradition, and develop themselves. We would like to renovate the library, which is centered in Viişoara. In this library we would like to organize some courses like first aid, traditional events, computer basics, English for all, Arts & Crafts. This way people can connect, enjoy, and learn.
We would also like a small coffee & tea corner, where people can enjoy their drink and have a small chat. We also envision, the garden in front of the library way greener than before with benches, tables and lots of flowers where people can enjoy their cup of coffee, dive deeper into their books, and enjoy the smell of the blooming flowers.
Lastly, we hope to create a mobile library (a book on wheels), which will bring books to all people in Alexandru Cel bun who aren’t mobile enough to go to the library itself. Think about kindergartens, retirements homes, and elderly people. This library should contain books for all generations.
